Named after the turrets that embellish the château, our wine Les Tourelles de Longueville, embodies the charm of the estate. The grapes that are used to blend the wine come essentially from the Sainte Anne plot, planted mainly to merlot, giving to it a distinctive personality. Les Tourelles de Longueville is an invitation to enter a world of flavour, charm, roundness and sensual delight. This wine provides an introduction to the spirit of Pichon Baron and can be enjoyed young or aged in the cellar for 15 years or more.
The Tourelles de Longueville 2015 offers a fine dark ruby colour. The nose is marked by the berry fruits of redcurrant, black cherry, wild strawberry and mild spices. The attack is fresh, elegant and subtle. The structure unfolds and grows in power. The finish is harmonious, full and well balanced. This wine is full of charm and grace.
Deliciously ripe and balanced with attractive, earthy nuances, surrounding ripe-plum and red-berry aromas and flavors. Sheet-like tannins layer up neatly and build a long, esteemed finish. Second wine of Pichon Baron. Try from 2023.

The 2015 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a blend of 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot that will be aged in 70% one-year-old barrels and 30% new wood. Harvest was between 18 September and 9 October, the fruit mainly from the "Sainte-Anne" terroir. It has a winsome bouquet in the making, almost Margaux-like with its hints of wilted violet petals coming through. The oak is nicely integrated here, as it is on the palate, medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannin, well-judged acidity and impressive depth on the tensile finish. An impressive Les Tourelles that, as always, has one eye on commercial appeal.

The 2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a blend of 58% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (from young vines that are destined to go into the Grand Vin one day, according to Christian Seely), matured in 30% new oak for 12 months. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, just a touch of melted tar with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a powerful opening, dense black fruit tinged with graphite, a solid Deuxième Vin with a slightly aloof finish (at least at the moment). There is a pleasant graphite note lingering long on the aftertaste that completes a fine Pauillac to enjoy over the next 12-15 years.

The 2016 Les Tourelles de Longueville is a very beautiful wine. Pliant, supple and inviting, the 2016 has so much to recommend it. Dark red cherry, red plum, tobacco, menthol and licorice are all laced together in this creamy, wonderfully expressive, silky Pauillac. The Tourelles will be impossible to resist young, and should drink well for another 10-15 years, maybe more.

A solid beam of black currant and black cherry preserve forms the base of this wine, with lightly singed alder, violet and warm earth notes peeking in from the edges. The focused, mouthwatering finish shows good tension. Best from 2021 through 2030. 9,458 cases made. — JM

Healthy evolved mid to dark garnet. Easy-peasy wine with a hint of tea leaf, lots of fruit and not much tannin or acidity. Obviously well-made wine from well-grown fruit. Just not as ambitious and concentrated as the grand vin. Nice wine but I suspect you could find a better buy without too much trouble.
