About this winery

Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's greatest domaines. Originally the company was a classic negotiant business, based in Nuits St. Georges and engaged in the buying and selling of wine but not the production of it. (Vintage 2020)

Shows a lot of finesse and elegance, with a bright cherry fruit, abundant floral notes and enough freshness to carry it through to a rewarding conclusion. The house owns nearly one hectare in Lavaux St-Jacques. In 2020, the fruit was picked at 13.5% and fermented with a good proportion of whole clusters before being run into cask (38% new) for ageing.

Encore marqué et serré par un boisé strict, Lavaux Saint-Jacques ne manque pas de fruit élancé, de finesse et d’allonge, mais il faudra être patient et espérer son épanouissement.

Julia Harding MW, November 2019 (Vintage 2018)

Barrel sample. Light to mid cherry red. Intense and pure red cherries on the nose with an attractive hint of crushed rocks. The oak hiding behind the fruit. On the palate, the oak is more evident, both in tannin and in spice. But there is an apparent restraint that hides the greater power here. Chewy, incredibly fine tannins, compact. All closed up at the moment but all in balance.
