About this winery

A trained chef, Francois Villard developed a passion for wine at the age of 20. Unsure how to enter the wine world, he completed a year of professional certification in sommellerie at Tain l’Hermitage. The connections he made there were pivotal, inspiring him to become a winemaker.

Josh Raynolds, July 2019 (Vintage 2017)

Inky ruby. Perfumed aromas of fresh, black/blue fruits, cracked pepper and violet are sharpened by a smoky mineral flourish. Sweet, spice-laced cassis and cherry flavors show very good depth and an energizing spine of juicy acidity. Plays power off of finesse smoothly, finishing with supple tannins and lingering blue fruit character. (all whole clusters and no new oak)

October 2019 (Vintage 2017)

Aromas of violets and cassis are laced with pepper and dark stones and lead to a very attractive and fresh palate that has deep-set plum and dark-berry flavors, amid layered and even tannins. Drink or hold.

Joe Czerwinski, January 2020 (Vintage 2017)

The 2017 Crozes Hermitage Certitude is a full-bodied, plush example of the appellation. Loads of black cherry fruit are nicely balanced by savory hints of licorice, espresso and black olives. Enjoy it over the next few years for its youthful exuberance—it's an ideal bistro-styled red.

November 2018 (Vintage 2017)

Cask sample. Tasted blind. Beautifully fragrant nose – black pepper, sappy green-stem aromas, a bit of smoked meat and wonderfully pure plum fruit. Finishes with a charred-meat character and a gradual, perfumed fade. Very convincing. (RH)

Une syrah d’une maturité solaire et sudiste : fumée, cuir et cacao. La bouche est d’une lecture aisée, la trame de tanin fondue, l’ensemble est souple et facile à boire. Un vin de demi puissance sans longueur.
