About this winery

Pelissero cultivates dreams in close to 38 hectares of vineyard and we harvest passions that we encapsulate in nearly 250,000 bottles every year. We produced our first bottles in 1960, utilizing artisanal methods in a small cellar on the ground floor of their home. Today this process is carried out in a new cellar surrounded by vineyards and located in the zone called Augenta. 2020 (Vintage 2017)

Giorgio Pelissero turned out a gorgeous set of 2017 Barbarescos. As always, the wines are bold and juicy. The 2017s are a bit less intense than normal, but still offer plenty of volume. The French oak is especially well integrated at this stage. Readers will also want to be on the lookout for the 2010 Barbaresco Riserva Vanotu, a gorgeous and elegant wine bottled to celebrate the estate’s 60th anniversary.

March 2019 (Vintage 2015)

Marked by new oak, in an attractive way, this red delivers coconut, vanilla and spice notes over cherry, tar and underbrush flavors. Shows an extra layer of tannins that needs to be resolved. Best from 2022 through 2036. 2,500 cases made.

Antonio Galloni, October 2016 (Vintage 2013)

The 2013 Barbaresco Nubiola is soft, succulent and open-knit. Crushed flowers, mint, anise and dried cherries all lift from the glass in a surprisingly accessible, silky Barbaresco that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. The 2013 is not especially complex, but it is delicious and approachable, especially with some air. The Nubiola is a blend of fruit from six different sites. The youngest vines are 20 years old. Drinking window: 2017-2027.

Macerated plum, fruit cake, tar and camphor flavors denote this dense, compact red. Assertive tannins take over the finish, leaving a lightly astringent feel. Best from 2025 through 2038. 2,500 cases made, 550 cases imported. — BS

Jancis Robinson, June 2018 (Vintage 2015)

Treiso. Tasted blind. Deep ruby with bricky rim. Savoury-sweet, concentrated nose and a little chalky. Already a little developed on the palate with a thick layer of ripe tannins and hints of fruit cake. A little old school. Satisfying but not hugely complex.
