About this winery

While Quinta do Vale Meão only began bottling under its own label in 1999, the estate has an incredible history. Vale Meão was one of the shrewd acquisitions of the celebrated Douro landowner Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira. Production notes

After crushing, the grapes undergo a thermal shock followed by traditional foot pressing for four hours in granite winches. The juice is transferred to small capacity wine cellars with temperature control. The grapes are vinified separately. This wine aged in second and third year barrels of 225 liters of French Allier oak.

Tasting notes

Floral aromas combined with red and wild fruits. It fills the mouth with intense notes of fruit, showing a prolonged, fresh and complex finish.
