Sokol Blosser is one of the pioneering estates of the Oregon state wine industry. Product notes
2016 vintage saw the earliest bloom on record. There was a traditional dump of rain during the winter, however, after the rain during bloom it was a very dry summer with some heat spikes at the end of July and August. This produced fruit clean of mildew and rot. In fact, it was the cleanest fruit to come into the winery.
Production notes
The grapes were hand harvested and de-stemmed, and the juice was soaked on the skins for four to six hours before pressing. An extended, slow, cool fermentation was maintained to preserve the lively fruitiness and delicate floral aromas. The fermentation was stopped with just a hint of residual sugar to balance the firm acidity, resulting in a wine that is crisp, vibrant, and refreshing.
Tasting notes
The 2016 Estate Rosé of Pinot Noir is a classic dry rosé made from organic pinot noir grapes from two different sections of the Sokol Blosser estate. The wine exhibits lively fruitiness and delicate floral aromas with just a hint of residual sugar to balance the firm acidity, which results in a wine that is crisp, vibrant, and refreshing.
