Monica Larner, (Vintage 2019)

This new wine saw its debut last year with the 2018 vintage. Vietti and many others in Piedmont are adding Timorasso to their estate portfolios, thanks to the grape's ability to age and flesh out gracefully with more time in the bottle. This 2019 Colli Tortonesi Timorasso Derthona opens to a rather neutral bouquet at this young stage, with honey and lightly fragrant apricot. Primary fruit is at center stage, but we can expect the wine to settle into notes of crushed mineral and beeswax with time. This was a release of about 9,000 bottles.
