François Leroy, a vintner with vineyards in Auxey-Duresses, Meursault, Pommard, Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, and Richebourg, sells his wines through the Comptoir des Propriétaires de la Côte-d’Or in Beaune, evidenced by a document from 1851. In 1868, he founded Maison Leroy to expand his estate. His son Joseph, supported by his wife Louise Curteley, expanded the business, earning medals at exhibitions in Brussels, Dijon, and La Rochelle. Henri Leroy joined in 1919, acquiring Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in 1942. His daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy became CEO in 1971, focusing on biodynamic practices and expanding the estate with acquisitions like Domaine Charles Noellat and Philippe Rémy. Leroy embraced biodynamics in 1988, promoting environmentally friendly practices and chemical-free viticulture. Takashimaya, owner of luxury department stores in Japan, distributor of wines of Maison Leroy since 1972 in Japan, enters the capital of the Maison Leroy in 1988 up to 1/3. It thus facilitates the acquisition of vineyards of Domaine Leroy.
