About this winery
Borgogno was established in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno and has long been one of the most recognized names in Piedmont. Evidence of the estate's fame comes from the selection of Borgogno Barolo as the wine served at the celebration dinner for the Italian Unification in 1861. From this point on it was one of the House of Savoy's official suppliers and was regularly served to visiting dignitaries. Product notes
Created in their best vineyards, those which have always given the most elegant and fragrant Barolo: CANNUBI, LISTE, FOSSATI in the municipality of Barolo. Developped for at least 4 years in the largest barrels in their cellar which manage to enhance the elegance-strength relationship of the Barolo di Barolo. Three wines in one. One wine that gathers all the best that Borgogno have learned in their 250 years of history, with the help of three fantastic cru.

Michaela Morris, (Vintage 1982)Farinetti cites this 1982 as his inspiration to reintroduce fermentation in cement with indigenous yeasts. Considered an excellent year, from summer through to harvest it was warm and dry with lots of wind and little humidity. It is properly garnet in colour, yet energetic and animated on the nose, possessing a wild, meaty personality along with truffle, wet soil and forest fragrances. Corseted and dense, the palate offers mouthwatering acidity and a savoury edge, while pepper and clove notes lace the finish This is simply a pleasure to drink.
