About this winery

For Pedro Parra the purest expression of his passionate devotion to terroir is Clos des Fous, his collaboration with Francois Massoc, Paco Leyton, and Albert Cussen. Although the project is based in Pedro's home region of Bio Bio, 500km south of Santiago, the focus is not limited to making wines from Bio Bio: rather the idea is to discover (or rediscover) and celebrate great unknown terroirs throughout Chile - a vast and endlessly varied country - that is full of the vibrancy, uniqueness, and...

Product notes

This wine is a blend of two different terroirs, both in the Alto Cachapoal D.O. Our Chardonnays comes from the cold area of the Andes Mountain, providing a Glaciar climate, allowing a natural high acidity to the grapes and less sun exposition. Both Vineyards are high altitude vineyards from the Andes. The first Terroir has a coluvial soil, clay sandy, very deep, full of volcanic rocks and peebles, allowing a very deep root development. The second Terroir comes from our Grillos Cantores Vineyard, fully alluvial from the Cachapoal river. Soil is gravelly mix with limestone, very deep roots development.

Tasting notes

Pale gold yellow with shades of Green. The nose opens with hints of white peach, pear and white flowers. A subtle note of butter complete it´s great typicity. Mouth full of energy. Freshness and brightness framed its balance and complexity. Persistent and mineral finish.

Jancis Robinson, November 2016 (Vintage 2015)

Sparky, flinty, clean citrus fruit, vibrant and alive. Quite a simple fruit profile, but very appetising.

Jancis Robinson

16,5

(Vintage 2020)

Rich nose with popcorn, nectarine and nutty almond reductive character. Has a lovely spine of acidity to counter the textured nutty mid palate, ripe peachy fruits and a saline snap comes through on the finish. Clearly very accomplished winemaking here, and a wine I think will improve with a year or two in bottle.
