Matt Walls , October 2020 (Vintage 2019)

Has that Mourvèdre 'black flower' aroma, deep, dark, earthy yet floral. Soft, deep, very concentrated, just a little unstructured for this weight of fruit. Amazing concentration. The alcohol is a little raised, but this has a sense of profundity. Very long, liquoricey finish. Aged in concrete for 9 months.

Herbal shadings accent raspberry fruit in the 2017 Cairanne Cuvee Maximilien, a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah. Medium to full-bodied, it adds some dark fruit notes on the palate, framed by just-ripe, fine-grained tannins, and lingers on the finish.
