About this winery

Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's greatest domaines. Originally the company was a classic negotiant business, based in Nuits St. Georges and engaged in the buying and selling of wine but not the production of it. After seven generations of steadily acquiring properties throughout the Cotes de Nuits, the Cotes de Beaune, Cotes Chalonnaise and now Chablis, the Faiveley family have established themselves as the most important vineyard owners in Burgundy, with 120 hectares of...

Subtle aromas of sweet strawberries and hints of citrus. Violets, too. Full-bodied and very fruity, but the tannins create a creamy texture and the acidity provides a tangy finish. Give this two or three years to come together. Better after 2022, but already fun to drink.

Tim Atkin, (Vintage 2018)

If you want to taste a textbook Gevrey-Chambertin, this is a very representative blend combining fruit from over 30 different parcels across the appellation. With an average vine age of 45 years, it's a sweet, glossy Pinot Noir with perfumed 30% new wood, caressing tannins and layers of red berry and bramble fruit sweetness. A very harmonious cuvée.

There is a fine purity to the black cherry, blackberry and spice flavors in this supple red. It's harmony and finesse makes it approachable now, yet there is ample structure to develop over the short term. Fruit and spice accents extend the finish. Drink now through 2036. 2,000 cases made, 650 cases imported. — BS

This is just what you expect from a village-level Gevrey-Chambertin. Generous and quite earthy with full, supple tannins, but also enough acidity to keep the supple, long finish on track. A blend of many different lots from 12 hectares / almost 30 acres of vineyards!

Lithe and delineated, this red features pure cherry, raspberry, iron and tobacco flavors. Tightly wound now, but shows excellent balance and length overall. Best from 2024 through 2040. 3,100 cases made, 110 cases imported.

Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers up aromas of sweet berry fruit, black truffle and spices, framed by a discreet touch of oak. Structuré, il offre un fruit assez tonique, une chair moelleuse et une bonne envergure de saveurs, avec une finale assez ferme.
