About this winery
The history of the Vietti winery traces its roots back to the 19th Century. Only at the beginning of the 20th century, however, did the Vietti name become a winery offering its own wines in bottle. Product notes
This wine comes from the oldest part of the Scarrone vineyard, located in Castiglione Falletto and facing southeast. The naturally low yield due to the age of the vines is further reduced by rigorous grape selection, ensuring optimal concentration. Aging for approximately eighteen months in barrels, casks, and steel tanks gives the wine complexity and balance.
Production notes
The grapes undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration before an alcoholic fermentation of about two weeks in steel tanks. This phase is punctuated by pump-overs, rack and return, and punch-downs to maximize the extraction of aromas and structure. After fermentation, a post-fermentation maceration with the skins is carried out before racking. The wine is then transferred to barrels for malolactic fermentation and subsequently aged in wooden casks and tanks for eighteen months.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby purple color. Pronounced and intense aromas of ripe red and black cherries and blackberries, paired with notes of spices and a hint of tar. Full bodied, with intense fruit on the palate that is paired with refreshing acidity. The single vineyard Scarrone has finesse, excellent balance, great complexity and a long lingering aftertaste.
