About this winery
Borgogno was established in 1761 by Bartolomeo Borgogno and has long been one of the most recognized names in Piedmont. Product notes
It differs from our basic barbera, not only for the alcohol content but also for the productive method. Barbera d’Alba Superiore comes from a selection of our best Barbera grapes, grown in Cannubi and Liste vineyards, two of the most important terroirs that usually are devoted for Nebbiolo Barolo only.
Production notes
Natural fermentation (without the addition of selected yeasts) is carried out for 15 days at low temperatures, 24/28°C, followed by a soft pressing and ageing in large Slovenian oak casks for 10 months at a temperature of 18°C. The wine is then bottled for 6 months of refining. This traditional process allows the maintenance of the fresh acidity and spicy notes of an easy-to-drink, fragrant, unique and elegant wine.
Tasting notes
This dry garnet-colored wine features medium animal, empyreumatic, spicy, fruity and vegetal scents, as well as traces of licorice, mushroom and plum pits. Experience this red wine with refreshing acidity and fleshy tannins. Moreover, it evokes smoky flavors. Its broad texture precedes a rather lingering finish.
