About this winery

Castello di Bossi is located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The name Bossi is apparently linked to the money chest which the Roman army would carry to its encampments to pay the soldiers; the word probably refers to boxwood, a rare and prized wood at the time, which was used to make these chests. Local inscriptions that date back to the 1st century AD, indicate that there was a Roman settlement on this site. The Bacci family, owners of Castello di Bossi, have worked tirelessly to...

Tasting notes

The color is a brilliant ruby color and very concentrated. The aromatic baggage is concentrated on a fairly broad fruity base, where the cherry and plum excel, accompanied by sweet sensations of red fruits, such as currants. On the finish, small spicy accents stand out. Nutmeg and cloves. On taste examination, it arrives with an obvious roundness, thanks to which the tannins are supple and well distributed. Good relationship between alcohol and acidity which allows a long, pleasant and appetizing finish

This is a fabulous sangiovese with super fine tannins that melt into the wine. I love the cherry, orange-peel and floral character. So fine and polished. Agile and floating across the palate. Drinkable now, but ever better in 2021.

The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a tight and streamlined wine with wild berry aromas, cassis, licorice and mild spice. I can't say that there is huge intensity here—the wine has more of a measured and mild nature, but it is pleasantly streamlined and elegant from start to finish. It's a great match for a Tuscan bean soup and freshly baked bread. Some 20,000 bottles were made.

Just mid ruby. Minerally, focused nose and bags of sweet fruit on the palate. Great tannic impact and finely integrated acidity on the finish. Still too young to approach.
