Product notes
Château Lamothe-Bouscaut is a beautiful and ancient property located in Pessac-Léognan, in Cadaujac: it was on the Belleyme map in the 17th century, and the castle was built on the site of a 12th century fortress. From 1969, it was tenant farmed by Château Bouscaut, Cru Classé de Graves, which is also located in Cadujac. Sophie Lurton and Laurent Cogombles, owners of Chateau Bouscaut, acquired Lamothe-Bouscaut in 1999. The vineyard is composed of gravel and sand; it is comprised of 8 ha of red vines (60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot) and 1 ha of white vines (70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon).
Production notes
Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, using traditional methods.
Tasting notes
The wine displays a deep garnet color. The beautiful, slightly woody nose shows a hint of brioche bread with notes of black fruits, plum and licorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, straightforward, round, rich, and it reveals refinement and character. It ends on a touch of spices. The finish is quite long with ripe, smooth, silky tannins.
