About this winery

Dominio Romano was created as a tribute to the Romans who introduced the cultivation of the wine to the region more than 2000 years ago. Their vision is very clear: to transmit the character of the Tinto Fino variety from the best vineyard sites of the region into the wineglass at its purest. To enjoy the juice of Ribera del Duero is to enjoy a piece of history; a history with roots deep in the Dominio Romano.

Product notes

VINEYARD: Grapes come exclusively from non-irrigated vineyards of lightly trained bush and trellised vines. The terroir consists of layers of white sand on limestone and marl concretions. Average age of the vines: 15 to 30 years old.

WINEMAKING: Cold skin maceration during 7 days. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats for 10 days at 30 ºC. A total maceration period of 18 days.

AGEING: Aged for 12 months in 2 and 3 year-old 400 l. barrels of French and Hungarian oak.

BOTTLING: The wine is bottled without stabilization and with a minimum of filtration. The wine may contain some natural sediments.

AGEING POTENTIAL: Stored under the right conditions, the wine will develop positively during the next 6 years.

Production notes

Camino Romano is a tribute to the characteristic fruit character of the tinto fino grapes. The wine expresses the fruit, freshness and roundness of the grapes after a hard selection in the vineyards, which are between 15 to 30 years old. The winemaker is looking to achieve a very intense flavour on the fruit side, keeping a soft and delicate wine ready to be enjoyed at any time. We are using the modern technique of “cold soaking”, that we have perfected to obtain the maximum of benefits: high colour and fruit extraction with low extraction of tannins from the seeds and skins.

Tasting notes

With deep red purple colour, the wine reveals intense aromas of red and black fruits. On the palate the wine is elegant with a good balancing acidity and a predominance of the fruity character, a touch of oak character, and a very fresh and clean finish.
