About this winery
Montevertine is located in the heart of Chianti, on the top of a hill at 425 meters of altitude. Ancient documents indicate that the site has existed since the 11th century. In 1967, Sergio Manetti bought Montevertine as a vacation property while he still was a steel metallurgist. He planted two hectares and built a small cellar to produce some wine for his friends and customers. In 1971, he produced his first vintage which enjoyed immediate success.
