About this winery
In the south of France sits the village of Rasteau, a small hilltop parish with a long history of winemaking. First established by the Romans in 30 BC, the hilly, south-facing slopes and smooth-pebbled soils of the region provide the ideal terroir for planting classic Rhone varietals like: Grenache, Mourvedre, and of course Syrah. Cave de Rasteau is one of Côtes du Rhône’s oldest co-operative wineries. Founded in 1925, it now consists of a union of eighty growers managing over 700 hectares....

90% handpicked harvest featuring short gobelet and cordon pruning.
Plantation density: 4000 plants per hectare
Yield: 40 hectoliters per hectare
Production notes
De-stemmed harvest, with traditional vinification featuring partial punching of the cap. Matured in temperature-regulated concrete vats at 25-27°C.
Tasting notes
Intense ruby red robe, red fruit, spice and liquorice aromas supported by a pleasant structure and mellow tannins. Pair with roasted veal or poultry and fresh goat or sheep cheeses. Pleasant to drink now, but reaches its peak after 2 to 3 years.
