Product notes
The Rasteau Côtes du Rhône-Villages appellation area covers two geological formations: in the North are sandy soils and white marls, conglomerates of red soils and a few rocky pebbles. In the South there are very stony quaternary terrace formations, the most famous being one called "Plan de Dieu".
Production notes
The grapes are grown on 50 year old vines in the clay-chalk and glacially deposited stone covered slopes in Rasteau Cotes du Rhone Villages. With an annual production of approx. 6,500 cases this wine is made from destemmed grapes and goes through a long vatting process with cap-punching and is matured in concrete vats. It also ages in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Tasting notes
Deep garnet offering aromas of garrigue, black fruit, smoke and leather on a nicely-structured background of freshness and elegance with a long finish with touches of flint and pepper.
Try with T-Bone steak, roast pheasant, duck, wild mushrooms and soft cheeses.
