About this winery

The history of the Vietti winery traces its roots back to the 19th Century. Only at the beginning of the 20th century, however, did the Vietti name become a winery offering its own wines in bottle. Patriarch Mario Vietti, starting from 1919 made the first Vietti wines, selling most of the production in Italy. His most significant achievement was to transform the family farm, engaged in many fields, into a grape-growing and wine-producing business. Then, in 1952, Alfredo Currado (Luciana...

Product notes

The grapes are selected from vineyards located in the middle of the Roero area, in Santo Stefano Roero. The vineyards are planted with 4.500-5.000 plants per hectare.

Production notes

Beginning in mid-September, grapes from 25-year-old vines in Santo Stefano Roero are harvested, pressed and clarified. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel autoclave at lower temperature (10-12°C, 50-53° F) to preserve some natural CO2 from the fermentation. There is no malolactic fermentation which preserves acidity and freshness. The wine is held in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

Tasting notes

Pale sunshine yellow color with fresh floral, citrus and melon aromas with hints of almond. An unoaked, dry, medium bodied white wine with crisp acidity, the Arneis is well-balanced, elegant wine with good complexity and a lingering finish.

(Vintage 2021)

Versatile, absolutely fresh and breezy, the Vietti 2021 Roero Arneis is a pleasure to drink. It delivers aromas of citrus, honeysuckle and fragrant pear with a hint of latex or whey (like you might taste in fresh mozzarella) that I adore. The wine ages on the fine lees to obtain its shiny texture. Try pairing this bottle with an insalata caprese made with heirloom tomatoes. An ample 45,000 bottles were made

Monica Larner, July 2020 (Vintage 2019)

Vietti's 2019 Roero Arneis is fresh, zesty and upfront. This delightfully informal white wine lays it all out there, and there's a lot to love. The Arneis grape reveals glossy, polished aromas in which citrus and peach are offset by a touch of squeaky natural rubber. I happen to love those aromas. Vietti offers a very clean and authentic expression of the variety. If you're new to Arneis, this is a good place to start.

Monica Larner, (Vintage 2020)

Vietti's cheerful and bright 2020 Roero Arneis reveals a punchy note of fresh lemon, waxy nectarine, dried hay and oregano. This is a lean-bodied expression that avoids the extra fruit weight or honey-like creaminess that comes naturally to this grape. In this wine, the sharper, more mineral-driven notes have been highlighted instead. Some 45,000 bottles were made.
