About this winery

Olivier Humbrecht is one of the world's most renowned winegrowers. He is a Master of Wine and has been described by Robert Parker as the greatest white winemaker on earth. Yet he is very soft spoken, humble, and self-deprecating, which makes him perfectly suited to his assumed role as a global ambassador of wine. Product notes

The Gewurztraminer comes from vines grown in the Goldert as well as from 30 year-old vines located on the Hengst. Both vineyards lie on a limestone bedrock that produces very distinctive Gewurztraminers. The limestone influence is manifested through a nose that is less floral (geranium scent is less pronounced) and a more structured palate (more acidity and noble tannins).

Production notes

Long fermentation process to consume all sugars.

Tasting notes

Already assertive, the nose is quite intense and reveals fragrances of old roses, licorice, mint, and especially spices (clove, saffron, and pepper). The nose is indicative of a sweet wine, but in fact, the palate is slightly rounded and dryer than one might think, despite its rich, delicate, and light texture.
