François Lumpp is undeniably one of the standout winemakers in the Givry appellation. Alongside a select group of vintners, he has elevated the appellation to prestigious heights through over two decades of patient dedication. Starting his viticultural journey in Givry in 1977, he parted ways with his brother to establish his own estate in 1991, now spanning 8 hectares exclusively within Givry. His portfolio includes 7 different cuvées, two of which are produced in both white and red. The latest addition to his estate, 2 hectares in the Premier Cru "La Vigne Rouge" (of which 1.5 hectares are currently in production), has been marketed since the 2007 vintage. Following a reclassification project submitted to the INAO, 90% of the estate's cultivated area will be classified as Premier Cru starting from the 2011 vintage. Renowned equally for his whites and reds, François Lumpp crafts wines known for their exceptional richness and length. His meticulous vineyard work aims for low yields of perfectly healthy and ripe grapes, while his non-interventionist wood aging brings consistent results year after year, balancing richness with the terroir's inherent tension.
