Sir Iain Noble founded the whisky business in 1976 to help create jobs in the south of Skye and to provide authentic whisky to the islands of the north-west coast of Scotland, where Gaelic is still spoken. At that time, Pràban na Linne was one of the few remaining independent companies in the Scotch whisky industry and the only whisky company to retain its headquarters in the Scottish Hebrides. In keeping with tradition, our whiskies are "unchilfiltered". The Gaelic Whiskies were the first to reintroduce this process in keeping with the authentic production method used by the Gaels when they invented whisky. This method allows our whiskies to retain all their natural elements and gives them a smoother, silkier flavor. The Gaelic Whiskies are appreciated by the world's finest connoisseurs and have earned a reputation at the top of the quality hierarchy. Pràban na Linne is now the only whisky producer based in the Hebrides. Our offices and stores are located in the small private harbour of Eilean Iarmain, on the idyllic Sleat Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. Come and visit this breathtakingly beautiful place and sample our award-winning whiskies. Authentic whiskies, the way they should be!
