About this winery

Sir Iain Noble founded the whisky business in 1976 to help create jobs in the south of Skye and to provide authentic whisky to the islands of the north-west coast of Scotland, where Gaelic is still spoken. At that time, Pràban na Linne was one of the few remaining independent companies in the Scotch whisky industry and the only whisky company to retain its headquarters in the Scottish Hebrides. In keeping with tradition, our whiskies are "unchilfiltered". The Gaelic Whiskies were the first to...

Product notes

A blend of more flavoursome malt whisky and lighter grain whiskies blended to give a taste of the Hebridean islands. The blend includes a high proportion of Highland and Island malts. The whisky is not chilfiltered and so retains many of the rich oils and proteins that contribute body and complexity to whiskies.

Production notes

Real Whisky as it used to be! In keeping with traditional methods, our whiskies are “un-chilled filtered”. The Gaelic Whiskies have pioneered the re-introduction of this process, the authentic production method used originally by the Gaels when they first invented whisky. In using this method we retain all of the natural ingredients in our whiskies, resulting in a smoother, softer flavour. The Gaelic Whiskies are recognized by the most discerning connoisseurs and have made a reputation for themselves at the top end of the quality market.

Tasting notes

Weighty, slightly creamy, a good touch of liquorice with a toffee-like richness and a delicate peaty note. Taste Profile: Sweetness 6/10 : Peatiness 4/10

Le Devoir
Jean Aubry, January 2022
