Perfumed and all about finesse, this focused red (the result of a long-term project) is the latest addition to the firm's stellar lineup. It opens with enticing aromas of fragrant purple flower, wild berry, truffle, baking spice and a whiff of crushed herb. Smooth and radiant, it delivers crushed cherry, raspberry compote, mint and star anise flavors set against taut polished tannins. Bright acidity lends balance and tension. Drink 2021–2036.

Située dans une région vallonnée à l’est de Florence, Chianti Rufina est une très petite appellation qui s’étend sur à peine 600 hectares (à titre de comparaison, l’appellation Chianti Classico couvre une vaste superficie de 7000 hectares, ce qui équivaut pratiquement à la zone entière comprise entre Florence et Sienne). Fidèles à leur réputation, les vins issus de cette appellation sont plus raffinés et rustiques que les autres Chiantis.
