About this winery

Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's greatest domaines. Originally the company was a classic negotiant business, based in Nuits St. Georges and engaged in the buying and selling of wine but not the production of it. Tim Atkin, (Vintage 2018)

If you want to taste a textbook Gevrey-Chambertin, this is a very representative blend combining fruit from over 30 different parcels across the appellation. With an average vine age of 45 years, it's a sweet, glossy Pinot Noir with perfumed 30% new wood, caressing tannins and layers of red berry and bramble fruit sweetness. A very harmonious cuvée.

Subtle aromas of sweet strawberries and hints of citrus. Violets, too. Full-bodied and very fruity, but the tannins create a creamy texture and the acidity provides a tangy finish. Give this two or three years to come together. Better after 2022, but already fun to drink.

Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers up aromas of sweet berry fruit, black truffle and spices, framed by a discreet touch of oak. It is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a concentrated, rich and youthfully reserved core built around velvety tannins and lively acids.

(Vintage 2018)

Structuré, il offre un fruit assez tonique, une chair moelleuse et une bonne envergure de saveurs, avec une finale assez ferme.
