About this winery

Founded in 1584, Gosset is the oldest wine producer in Champagne. At that time, the wines of Champagne were still table wines produced from pinot noir and chardonnay; the wines from Ay were ranked with the wines of Beaune as the finest in France. Simon Field MW, 2021 (Vintage 2008)

Campari orange; well-polished copper at the very least; a delicate yet persistent mousse; an enticing marriage of soft spice, garlanded by black pepper and then delicate fruit with dried apricot, peach and Mirabelle plum all playing their part; behind that a hint of griotte, woodsmoke and forest floor. Very vinous; very complete. The palate is subtle, big-boned, generous and yet reserved at the same time. The strong silent type. Chef de cave Odilon de Varine describes the style as ‘horizontal’ to illustrate the complexity of the attack, yet there is a chalky linearity too; a long evolution thereby guaranteed, with gastronomic potential never in doubt.

ROGER VOSS, (Vintage 2008)

This rich Champagne is full of ripe red fruits balanced by red currants, green apples and a shot of citrus. The full texture only just shows maturity, but also is elegant. It is now ready to drink.
