At that time, the wines of Champagne were still table wines produced from pinot noir and chardonnay; the wines from Ay were ranked with the wines of Beaune as the finest in France. A bright nose of strawberry and pink-grapefruit aromas with hints of blood oranges and berries, as well as almond biscuits. The palate has a super vibrant, fleshy ball of fresh red-fruit flavor and delivers a refreshing, minerally finish.
Gosset's NV Brut Grand Rosé is brisk and chiseled to the core, with plenty of bright cranberry, citrus and floral notes that give the wine lift. Deceptively pale in color and light in body, the Grand Rosé makes its case with persistence and focus. The dry, bracing style is best suited to the dinner table, especially with lighter, fish-based dishes. Disgorged on May 31, 2016. Dosage is 9 grams per liter.
