LINDORES ABBEY DISTILLERY

Lindores Abbey Distillery sits nestled on the site of the ruined Lindores Abbey, a stone’s throw from the Tay estuary in the Kingdom of Fife. Established in 1191, Lindores Abbey lays claim to the oldest written reference to whisky making in Scotland, in 1494. After a break of 523 years, spirit is once again flowing from the copper stills at Lindores Abbey. Founder Drew McKenzie Smith’s great grandfather bought the property in 1913. The distillery is independently owned and family run, and the late Dr Jim Swan consulted on the distillery design and the whisky-making process.
