El Enemigo Los Paraisos Mendoza 2016

Bright red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate, black olive, licorice and menthol. Densely packed but quite vinous; a step up in energy and definition from the Bonarda El Mirador, boasting nicely integrated acidity. There's a light greenness here but also lovely violet lift. Finishes with a good ripe dusting of tannins, a suggestion of black pepper and excellent length. A fresh Bonarda with noteworthy vinosity, this wine nicely combines dark raspberry fruit and subtle salinity. And my sample did very well in the recorked bottle, gaining in sweetness and pliancy. (winemaker Alejandro Vigil noted that the supplier of this fruit is 90 years old and still tends his three-hectare vineyard)
